Comeback of compact agility
Behind the two sport seats of the 3.99 meter long Concept BlueSport (axle load distribution: 45:55) is an exclusively boosted TDI or TSI engine that delivers dynamics – these are high-tech engines that consume little yet deliver a lot. In the first prototype, it is a 132 kW / 180 PS strong Clean Diesel (TDI) with common rail injection and downstream NOx storage catalytic converter. At a low 1,750 rpm – right from the engine speed ‘cellar’ – the 2.0 liter turbo engine develops its maximum torque of 350 Newton-meters.
Ford have made 14,000 sales under the Scrappage Sheme
Ford – who are the biggest car seller in the UK anyway – are, not surprisingly, coming out on top in the Scrappage wars. They’ve managed to shift over 14,000 cars under the Scrappage Scheme in the last few months, and orders are coming in at the rate of 300 a day. Top seller is the new Ford Fiesta, with a healthy dose of Fiesta sales being the Ford Fiesta ECOnetic.
Mercedes-Benz
Mercedes-Benz has teased its answer to the BMW X6 ahead of its unveiling at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. The coupe SUV – which is likely to be called the MLC – will be based on the ML and shown at Beijing in concept form, before a production vehicle is revealed next year. Like the X6, the Mercedes-Benz concept coupe SUV features a rakish rear roofline and is likely to divide opinion among buyers.
